The 4-1 win for Newcastle over Hull City couldn’t go without something wrong happening to them, as Alan Pardew was sent off in the second half for apparently headbutting David Meyler, which will probably result in a very long suspension for the manager.
With Newcastle 3-1 in the lead, Meyler ran to the sidelines to try and retrieve the ball from Pardew with resuming play as quickly as possible on his mind. Pardew took his time, and Meyler barged into him, not the classiest of moves.
But Pardew didn’t bulk away. Most managers would simply raise their hands in the air and ask for a booking or sending off. Pardew simply leaned towards Meyler and it seemed that he also added a small headbutt along with his shove and aggressive manager. Kevin Friend didn’t really take his time, and sent Pardew to the stands, in what will obviously be the most talked about incident at the FA building this week.
Newcastle remain at 8th place after the 4-1 win, getting a two goal lead in the first half through Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy. Curtis Davies made a match of it early in the second half, but goals from Sissoko again and Vurnon Anita in injury time were enough to claim what seemed like a one sided win in a match that was a bit closer than that.
