Despite a good season with the New England Patriots, LeGarrette Blount is testing the market while keeping his options of staying put open. His most likely destination seems to be the AFC North, with both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens showing interesting in the running back.

The Steelers are having him for a visit, while the Ravens are looking from afar in the meantime. Blount might be tough for the Steelers to sign, because they only have$2.174 million to spend, but there are restructuring options left for them to try and use.

The Ravens might be in more of a need for a new running back, especially someone whose expertise is short-yardage gains. Blount did a great job against the Ravens last season when he played for the Patriots, but the team’s own running problems with a declining Ray Rice who might also be suspended for his off the field problems serve as motivation for the Ravens to bring in a capable running back.

The Steelers have Le’Veon Bell as their starter, but adding someone like Blount isn’t going to hurt when trying to bring something different to the field or giving the second-year player a little bit of rest, which even he needs from time to time.

What about the Patriots? New England are never in a rush to spend a lot of money when they have a chance to keep a player, usually confident enough they’ll find someone to replace him for a cheaper deal. Right now it seems like Blount is closer to leaving them than staying, but communications between the sides haven’t broken down.

Blount has been in the NFL since 2010. He rushed for 772 yards and 7 touchdowns on only 153 carries last season. He had a huge, four touchdown, 166 yards performance for the Patriots in their playoff win over the Indianapolis Colts, but was stifled with only 6 yards on 5 carries a week later against the Broncos.
