The players left to sign in free agency are mostly guys who won’t be starters for anyone next season, and the story is the same with Garrett Reynolds, getting interest from the Tennessee Titans after playing for the Atlanta Falcons last season.
Reynold, 26, started at right guard 10 times last season for the Falcons – the first nine games of the season and then only once more in the final six. He has been playing guard for most of his career but has had unsuccessful stints at tackle. He was a 2009 fifth round pick for the Falcons, playing in 42 games for the team, starting in 23 of them.
Reynolds is meeting with the Titans, hoping to finally find a team for himself next season. He isn’t going to get anything more than a backup role, and isn’t even likely to be in the competition for the starting positions.
Reynolds played his college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels, making second-team All ACC during his last season in Chapel Hill. He is the nephew of former 49ers linebacker Jack “Hacksaw” Reynolds. The Falcons released Reynolds in February, and there doesn’t seem to be any opening for him with an option of returning.
