Three weeks before the 2010-2011 Premiership season begins, it’s time to review and take a look at what’s been going on in the English transfer market so far, going over all the summer signings by the Premiership’s clubs.
Arsenal

After two years of chasing Bordeaux’s Moroccan striker, Arsenal finally landed him on a free transfer, waiting for him to run out his contract with the French club. Chamakh, 26, was with Bordeaux since the age of 16 and scored 79 goals for the club in 293 matches, including 16 last season.
Laurent Koscielny – Another Ligue 1 player that caught Wenger’s eye. Koscienly, 24, played only one with Lorient but was very impressive as Centre Back for the club and was purchased for nearly 10 million pounds.
Birmingham City
Nikola Zigic

The 2.02 Serbian international striker hasn’t really done much for Valencia during his tenure there, scoring five goals in the span of three seasons, but his physical attributes and 16 goals for the national side were enough for Birmingham to pay six million pounds for him.
Ben Foster – Joe Hart returned to Manchester City after a fantastic season with Birmingham in 2009-2010, so they decided to go for another Manchester goalkeeper, the 27 year old Ben Foster, who failed to impress at Old Trafford while subbing for Van der Sar. Foster cost 4 million pounds, with the fee potentially reaching six through add-ons.
Enric Valles – A 20 year old midfielder who hardly played for NAC Breda the last couple of season but impressed on trials at St Andrew’s, convincing McLeish to sign him.
Bolton
Martin Petrov

Bolton got the 31 year old Bulgarian Lefty for free after being released by Manchester City, his club the last three seasons. Petrov had a good start to his career at Eastlands, but an influx of high-caliber players and a struggle with injuries led him out of Mancini’s squad.
Robbie Blake – The 34 year old utility man who mostly spends his time in the midfield in recent years also joined Bolton on a free transfer after leaving relegated Burnley.
Chelsea
Yossi Benayoun

The Israeli was signed after three seasons at Anfield, scoring 28 goals for the club in all competitions, despite coming on off the bench most of the time and never fully getting first-team credit from Benitez. Chelsea signed him for 5.5 million pounds in what was eventually a switch with Joe Cole who left the club and joined Liverpool for free.
Matej Delac – A 20 year old Croatian keeper who was purchased last season but will join the club in August. He was bought from Inter Zapresic for 2.7 million pounds.
Tomas Kalas – A 17 year old Czech defender who was signed from Sigma Olomouc for 4.6 million pounds but was immediately loaned back to the Czech club after purchasing the player.

After three seasons of tearing up League one nets, scoring 85 goals in all competitions for Leeds United, the 26 year old striker ran out his contract and joined the Toffees on a free transfer, with Everton hoping he’ll show his FA Cup form from last season.

Joao Silva – Another striker – 20 year old Portuguese who scored 14 goals last season for second division side Aves.
Fulham
Philippe Senderos – Fulham are without a manager and Martin Jol seems to be the next name declining the job, but they have been a tad busy, signing the Swiss international from Arsenal who spent the last two seasons mostly on loans at Milan and Everton.
Jonathan Greening – After playing 23 matches with Fulham as a loanee last season, Greening signed from newly promoted West Brom.
Liverpool
Joe Cole

One of the more sought after free agents of the summer, Cole eventually decided to leave London for the first time in his career, declining the offers from Spurs, Arsenal and Man City and joining Liverpool for free but also 90,000 pounds a week with a nice fat signing bonus.
Milan Jovanovic – The 29 year old Serbian winger joined Liverpool after four very successful seasons with Belgian side Standard Liege and an impressive 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring five goals, plus one in Serbia’s disappointing 2010 World Cup.
Jojo Shelvey – The 18 year old Charlton talent was signed for 1.7 million pounds. The creative midfielder has already played 42 league matches for Charlton despite his young age.
Manchester City
Yaya Toure

City purchased Barcelona’s fantastic 27 year old Ivorian for 24 million pounds after Toure spent three years at the Nou Camp, winning two league titles and one Champions League, establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
David Silva – Had another fantastic season with Valencia in 2009-2010, scoring 10 goals with 15 assists in all competitions for the club that just couldn’t hang on to him anymore. The 24 year old had a disappointing World Cup, losing his place after the first match but is definitely one of the more talented players to join City in recent years.
Jerome Boateng – Unlike Silva and Toure, Boateng had a very good World Cup, winning his place in the first team after Germany lost to Serbia. The 21 year old was signed from Hamburg for 10.4 million pounds and can play in any defensive position.
