First Day of the 2010 College Football Season in Photos


It’s September, and it means that the College Football season has begun. Here’s how it looked like across the nation in some of the bigger matches on Thursday.

Ohio State 45, Marshall 7

Terrelle Pryor threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns as the Buckeyes brushed aside Marshall in Columbus.

USC 49, Hawaii 36

Matt Barkley threw for five touchdowns and Marc Tyler ran for 154 yards as the Trojans beat Hawaii in Honolulu.

Miami 45, Florida A&M 0

Miami opened their promising 2010 campaign whoopin’ Florida A&M 45-0 as Jacory Harris threw for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns. It’s a showdown with Ohio State next.

Rutgers 31, Norfolk State 0

It took Rutgers about two and a half quarter to get things going, but eventually the ran all over the Spartans, with Joe Martinek running for 109 yards and a touchdown.

South Carolina 41, Southern Miss 13

Steve Spurrier got his 18th straight opening day win as the Gamecocks, led by freshman tailback Marcus Lattimore and QB Stephen Garcia, both running for two touchdowns, making easy pickings out of the Golden Eagles.

Utah 27, Pittsburgh 24

Pitt were ranked 15th in the pre season polls, but got a very tough start with a trip to Salt Lake City, suffering an opening day loss, as the Utes won after Joe Phillips scored an overtime field goal, winning their first opening day match against an AP-ranked opponent.
