Floyd Mayweather, Not the Man Ray Rice Needs Standing Up for Him

One of the running jokes since the Ray Rice thing exploded was connecting him with Chris Brown. Floyd Mayweather has lately been known for the ‘cant’ read’ memes, but he has his history with dishing out some domestic abuse, which also landed him in prison. Him being an advocate of Rice being treated unfairly by the league doesn’t really help the case of the running back.

Mayweather spent two months in prison two years ago after pleading guilty to reduced domestic abuse charges  for attacking his former girlfriend while their children were watching. Mayweather contends to this day that he was innocent, but he seemed quite happy about taking a lesser plea just in order to avoid the chance of trial, which would potentially could have sent him to jail for a very long time (34 years maximum penalty).

While the Ray Rice video was exploding on the internet, Mayweather had problems of his own. He was named in a civil lawsuit by his former fiancee, Shantel Jackson. In the lawsuit, she claims that he assaulted her and prevented her from leaving his home in Las Vegas. She also claims that the boxer publicly humiliated her by posting online a sonogram showing her pregnant with twins and then claiming she aborted them.

Mayweather, at least on the outside, doing his round of promoting his second fight with Marcos Maidana, doesn’t seem to be too excited about getting blamed again, and also has a message for Ray Rice and the NFL.

Like I’ve said in the past, no bumps, no bruises, no nothing. With O.J. and Nicole, you seen pictures. With Chris Brown and Rihanna, you seen pictures. With Ochocinco and Evelyn, you seen pictures. You guys have yet to see any pictures of a battered woman, a woman who says she was kicked and beaten by me. So I just live my life and try to stay positive, and try to become a better person each and every day. I think there’s a lot worse things that go on in other people’s households, also. It’s just not caught on video, if that’s safe to say.

In short? Mayweather is taking advantage of the Ray Rice situation to show how great of a person he really is.

Mayweather is planning to fight just two more times after his rematch with Maidana. Mayweather won a majority decision when the two fought back in May, which probably was the toughest fight for Mayweather in a very long time, not leaving the ring without a few bumps and bruises, which makes those wishing to finally see him lose (undefeated in 46 career fights) feel slightly optimistic heading into this fight.
