The stars of the second night of Champions League football in week 2, with groups A through D in actions, were Cristiano Ronaldo, helping Real Madrid overcome a tough Bulgarian host, and Danny Welbeck, scoring a hat trick for Arsenal as they won for the first time, beating Galatasaray 4-1.
Group A
Atletico Madrid 1 Juventus 0: A weird, aggressive and dirty match which was eventually decided by Arda Turan in the 75th minute. Juventus were somewhat screwed over by the referee with an appalling, mistake-filled performance.
Malmo 2 Olympiacos: A result that makes things very interesting the group, as a brace from Markus Rosenberg gave the Swedish side their first ever win in the competition’s group stage.

Basel 1 Liverpool 0: The woes of Liverpool in the 2014-2015 season continue, losing for the first time in the competition this season while Basel are back in the hunt for one of the top two spots, winning through a winner by Marcus Streller.
Ludogorets 1 Real Madrid 2: Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty kick but also converted one to tie the match in the first half. Karim Benzema scored the winner in the 77th minute. The Bulgarian champions stunned Europe for a moment with an opening goal, through a set piece (as usual for Real Madrid), scored by Marcelinho.

Zenit 0 Monaco 0: One of the worst matches we’ve seen in the competition so far this season, with just four shots that actually forced the goalkeepers to move in the match.
Leverkusen 3 Benfica 1: A loss that probably ends Benfica’s chances of winning the group, not to mention making it difficult to make it out of the top two. Stefan Kiessling, Son Heung-Min and Hakan Calhanoglu. Eduardo Salvio scored for the visitors.

Arsenal 4 Galatasaray 1: A brilliant performance from Wenger’s boys, probably their best of the season. Goals from Danny Welbeck (hat trick) and Alexis Sanchez paved the way. Burak Yilmaz scored from the penalty spot a goal that didn’t matter.
