The NBA’s Top Ten Highest Player Salaries for 2010-2011

People love knowing how much money athletes make, so we oblige the public and its wishes – Here are the top ten earners in the NBA for the up and coming 2010-2011 season, with the Lakers and the Magic both sending two players, without Shaq, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Jermaine O’Neal and Tracy McGrady (no.1 last time) who were in the top 10 last season and a whole lot of eye popping figures, some deserve, some not, most of us can only dream of.

For the 2009-2010 list, go here.

Number 10 – Vince Carter, Orlando Magic, 17,522,375 Dollars

“Half-Man, Half Amazing” did make his first Conference Finals last season with the Magic, but didn’t live up to the role intended for him, which was to fill the missing piece that would take Orlando all the way to the title. Carter scored 16.6 points per game for Orlando during the season but had a very series against the Celtics (4-2 loss), averaging just above 13 points per game and shooting way below 40% from the field, ending his first season in Florida in a rather negative note. Carter is making 1.4 million dollars more this year than his first with Orlando.

Number 9 – Zach Randolph, Memphis Grizzlies, 17,666,666 Dollars

Image: Source

Like Carter, Randolph had his first season with a new team, and despite not making the playoffs, was as usual, very productive, delivering his pretty much given 20-10 stat line, finishing with 20.8  points and 11.7 rebounds a night, helping Memphis reach 40 wins, their best record since 2005-2006 and with hope of a bright and playoff filled future at Memphis. Randolph is making 1.6 million dollars more this year than in 2009-2010.

Number 8 – Yao Ming, Houston Rockets, 17,686,100 Dollars

Image: Source

Yao hasn’t played basketball in over a year, but will be ready to start 2010-2011, so it seems. The 7’6 center is rumored to be limited to 24 minutes a night next season, to reduce stress on those fragile, fragile bones. In 2008-2009, Ming averaged 19.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, playing 77 games and 9 playoff games before, as usual, going down for the count.

Number 7 – Gilbert Arenas, Washington Wizards, 17,730,694 Dollars

Image: Source

Before Arenas’ legal trouble (understatement) last season, he did pretty well, averaging 22.6 points and 7.2 assists. Then things turned south. Arenas is back, and the record says that when he’s healthy for a full season, the Wizards make the playoffs. With a potential exciting combo with John Wall, if Arenas’ return will be like Vick’s early success at Philly, things could be pretty sweet for Washington.

Number 6 – Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers, 17,823,000 Dollars

Image: Source

The real Finals MVP if you ask me, Gasol took the summer off, resulting in Spain’s very disappointing performance in the World Championships, but priming himself for another great season with the Lakers. In 2009-2010 he did miss 17 games, and the Lakers need Gasol more than ever. Kobe is still number 1 in LA, but he probably wouldn’t be with his fifth and fourth ring if Gasol was still in Memphis. Just to jog your memory, Gasol’s Game six and seven production – 17 and 19 points, 13 and 18 rebounds, 9 and 4 assists, 3 and 2 blocks. Huge Defense. Huge in the clutch. Deserves every dollar. And for those interested in numbers, Gasol is making 1.4 million more this year than in 2009-2010.

Number 5 – Michael Redd, Milwaukee Bucks, 18,300,000 Dollars

Image: Source

One of the two biggest “What the F@$@” on this list, Redd was number 10 in the league last year, making 17 million. Redd has played 51 games in the last two seasons combined, and I’m still hurting from picking him as one of the top 5 shooting guards in the league before the season. The Bucks did very well without him last season, and Redd won’t be back till early 2011 so it seems. More months of collecting the cash while healing.

Number 4 – Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics, 18,832,044 Dollars

Image: Source

How much does KG have left? His 2009-2010 regular season wasn’t his finest (14.3 points per game, lowest since his rookie season) but his energy, defense and leadership carried the Celtics, along with Rondo’s incredible talents, to a few minutes away from another title to the C’s, especially during the series against LeBron and the Cavs, averaging 18.8 points during that series. Quite a few writers, bloggers and fans I’ve been reading lately swear that Garnett will have a great 2010-2011, but I don’t. Age, injuries, mileage, the body pays for those. Garnett still has plenty of fighting spirit, but he’s not going to have a great year.

Number 3 – Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs, 18,835,381 Dollars

Image: Source

Number 4 on last year’s list with 22 million, Duncan, like Garnett, is declining, with 2009-2010 his weakest season yet statistically, averaging 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds, not too shabby, but not what we’re used to from probably the greatest PF of all time, who’s actually a center these days. Apparently, Duncan, 34, is coming into the season 15 pounds lighter, which might make it easier for the big guy to keep his high level of play for a bit longer. There’s seems to be enough fire and will in the Spurs organization for another title run. Talent? Possibly. Staying injury free will be the key. Don’t see it happening.

Number 2 – Rashard Lewis, Orlando Magic, 19,573,511 Dollars

Image: Source

Number 9 last season with 18.8 million, Lewis actually took a step backwards last season, scoring only 14.1 points with 4.4 rebounds, his lowest scoring average since the 1999-2000 season. He also saw a 3 minute drop in his playing time, averaging 32.9 a night, the lowest since 1999-2000. Lewis isn’t worth the money, we all know that, but his horrible series against the C’s, along with the entire team, just make the amount of cash he’s making much more annoying and difficult to grasp (8.2 points in the conference finals against the Celtics).

Number 1 – Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, 24,806,250 Dollars

With so much Cash and Titles, You'd be smiling too
Image: Source

Five time NBA champions and two time NBA Finals MVP. He’s not the best player in the league, LeBron is, but no one wants to win more badly than Kobe, and thanks to Gasol and the huge talent surrounding him, Bryant does win more than anyone else, and deserves to be on top of this list, which he was runner-up on last season, thanks to McGrady still earning huge cash for nothing. Just for the info, McGrady will be wearing Pistons uniform in 2010-2011, making 800,000 dollars.

    • No need to wonder – LeBron will be making 14.5 million next year – he preferred playing with friends in Miami than making tons of money on another team while sticking a small knife in the Cavs’ back

  1. Can we give up with the Lebron is the best player in the league talk already? Kobe is the best. Lebron might be a better athlete, but no way is he a better player. He quit on his team for 2 straight games in the finals and then jumped ship to play with Wade and Bosh. The desire to win at all costs must be factored in somewhere. All the great ones had it, as does Kobe, to say nothing of Kevin Durant. Lebron is too wrapped up in being a global icon.

    • Don’t forget the talent around Kobe… they played an even bigger part in the 2010 Finals… Gasol was The one who should have gotten the MVP in my opinion, and as stated by Greg in the post

  2. Lebron didn’t quit in those games the team expected him to take over. You would see the other 4 guys just standing around and the give Lebron the ball. Now the entire defense is waiting to collapse on him and the other 4 guys when they get the ball keep missing shots. He can’t do it all by himself.

  3. I don’t know about the LaBron better than Kobe, when it comes down to crunch time Kobe always comes through, LaBron didn’t show to much when it counted in the playoffs. Looks almost like he gave up.

  4. You can’t compare Lebron and Kobe, they play on 2 totally different teams. Kobe can play horrible, (i.e. NBA Finals game 7) and the Lakers can still win. Lebron can play horrible and he is “giving up”. The Lakers have 3 good talls, no one else does.

Can’t watch basketball anymore, comes down to who has the bigger tall guy. Kobe could not win with out Gasol remember that.

  5. lebron is the best so idk why yall niggahs hatin on him. he would never ever ever quit on his team in the playoffs….. he is the nation best player to ever play the game of basketball….. he should be number one paid in the nba…. lebron and dywane wade gone wreckkk this year so stop HATIN…..

  6. The reason Wade and LeBron are not on this list is because they haven’t been in the league long enough to make the money that these other guys are making. Towards the end of this current contract, all 3 of the Miami boys will be on this list…

  7. Lebron still needs to prove he is better than Kobe. He hasn’t done it yet. Kobe is THE best player in the league.

  8. still kobe is the brst player today, lebron is good but kobe is better than him, considering 5 title 2 finals mvp and 1 time nba mvp, not like lebron who won 2 nba mvp, best team last season, but still, no championship ring, so i hope that lebron, wade and bosh will be effective for a team like miami heat

  9. whoever made this list and said kobe is the highest paid and is not the best player has no clue what he is talking about and should be shot.

  10. This List is CRAZY! The Only deserving player in this List is KOBE, GARNETT, Gasol and Tim duncan. WTF How come 3 of the 4 best players in the league is not on the list? Lebron wade and durant? LEWIS and YAO MING? I mean come on!

  11. STFU. KOBE can’t win without GASOL, LEBRON, WADE will reign this season. they just have to get a good backup to get the RING.

  12. lebron is da best if u think about it he had no team his first 7 years now his 8 year he has a team so hes gonna get da ring all people can say 4 kobe is dat he has 5 rings but if u think bout it he had a team ever time he won it nobody can do it alone n da only reason da heat not killin rite now is cuz day not used to playin wif eachother in a real nba game yet so give them some time then they will be da best team n lebron will get dat ring

    • I dunno, I don’t think Kobe gets that much BS calls as you might think. The Lakers didn’t win the last title because he went to the line. Jordan? Got tons of respect from the refs, but I don’t recall him winning a game because of free throws. Wade is fantastic, but when I look back at that 2006 Finals series’ that’s the first thing that comes to mind, Wade goint to the line.

  13. lebron cannot win a ring w/o wade and bosh… kobe can win a ring w/ gasol… and jordan can win aring w/ pippen.

  14. lebron is a loser. he jumped off to miami because of his cowardness. no leader will leave his team just like what he did. he has no bone, only selfishness.

  15. you write in a very subjective way which makes your articles suck! your not speaking with a kobe fan, and i think its pretty obvious that kobe bryant is the best player in the league, and before even saying lebron james name you have to remember tim duncan, kevin garnet, shaq etc…

  16. Kobe and Lebron are very equally matched. but……they play two different positions and have two different styles of play. to say that one is better than the other is ludicrous. they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I do think that Kobe deserves his rings and that lebron needs to put less selfishness forth if he wants to win but the only way to know who’s the best is to have a 1 v 1 match. and since bball is a 5 v 5 game that will never happen.

  17. i think robert major is right, we cannot say that kobe is better than lebron and lebron is better than kobe because they are in different position and they have different game style.

  18. Lebron aint on the list cause he took a pay cut to play on an all star team!!! and um Robert Major name Kobe’s weeknesses?…. what i thought….. Black Mamba!!!!

  19. Lebron is good, but not Koby Bryant good. Somehow Lebron got all this publicity so quickly when he really hasnt done anything yet. Koby has been winning championships and titles. Lebron, Step it up fag.

  20. The championship is the most prestigious award in nba. Lebron is at the top of his game and deserves a ring. It is true that they play different positions, however Lebron is a more diverse player then Kobe. Which makes you think could Kobe be pulling as good numbers as Lebron? Robert Major is right when he says basketball is a 5 v 5 game and when lebron was playing for cleaveland it was 1v5.

  21. Kobes success is in tune with an exceptional centre like Gasol. Lebron dragged his team into the playoffs without a decent centre which does deserve some merit. When Kobe has games off the lakers still win, without lebron the cavs plain and simply got served. Kobe is a valued player in the lakers but he is not vital to there success. Lebron wins games and makes any team better and know other team values there star as much as lebron. Hence his the term “most valued player”.

  22. your son of a bitch solo… kobe is the greatest player of this season…. lebron is not good… because he is a quiter like you solo…. you bitch… fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. You can’t say Lebron is the best, especially when he has no championship rings to prove how good he is! Everyone keeps saying Kobe couldn’t win without Gasol, but ya Lebron can’t win it with anyone…. Sooo stop with the Lebron hype once Lebron has five rings then go ahead and say he’s the best but After Kobe wins his sixth this year, Kobe will be known as the greatest player to ever play the game.
    peace niggas!

  24. Your sources are hella wrong you dumb ass cracker and fyi lebron isnt the best in the league u dumb fuck its between kobe, derrick rose, or dwayne wade. Lebron is some washed up ass bitch!

  25. This Greg dude definitely is a Kobe hater and a lebrone cock sucker.haha suck more on lebron Greg

  26. yall need 2 stop we all know dat Kobe is better than Labron so stop da drama and get over it dis is the real truth SORRY to say sweetcakes.

  27. what the hell……lebron the best player? oh no where is your brain…
are you blind? com’n don’t be so creepy………kobe the best player…
    suck………

  28. Before you say Lebron is the best, tell me how best he is if the one does not have any companionship ring. Besides, if you pick one from the league to shoot for the last second, whom will you pick? Undoubtedly, Kobe now and MJ in the old day. Kobe deserves more than one MVP in his NBA career and Lebron is too early to get two MVPs that I don’t think he deserved.

  29. we can’t really argue that at this point in their careers (lebron in his prime, kobe is old) lebron is better. that being said, the nba poll of players that overwhelmingly voted that if the game was on the line they’d want the ball in kobe’s hands over anyone else speaks for itself, and kobe in the prime of his career is better than lebron in his prime.

  30. LB James is Good but he kan never ever b compred to Kobe. Kobe is a legend hes up there with MJ .
    His resume Speaks for himself..
Lebron in a interview said if asked are yu better then kobe he replied not now but i will b.. for now hes better.. ye rite man nigga gota work on his game and win some championships first then tlk bout beeing compared to kobe!
    Kobe is a Legend!

  31. Lebron isn’t such a rat traitor like Kobe leaving his hometown to win championships. Lebron’s been playing with shitty teammates for all his career trying to bring the championship to his hometown, he couldn’t do it. Now Kobe and Lebron are playing with equally good teammates. Look! Who is in the Conference finals and who is not?

  32. Mr. Lebron-fan, it is not just about having equally good teammates, but also the situation that they are in. The Lakers went to the Finals 3 times, 2007-2008,2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Could you tell me if the built-up fatigue won’t affect you mentally and physically? Of course it would.

  33. d’best c cobe.pero asa unang panahon yon .dili na karon c james n ang d best.kay naka pasok man cla sa conference final.

  34. Wil u please stop dis argument kobe is da best he never leave lakers just to win a ring lebron is gud but n0t as gud as kobe.

  35. yo ya dum people need to stop beging lebron haters cause hes a beast and look where hes at now 1 win away from going to the chip if kobe was the best that was probly five years ago when he had shaq and won four. And now gasol, odom, artest and phil jackson and won five.lebron is the best he brang a franchise from the bottom to the top the cavs and bang them to the finals all by him self u cannot say kobe won any of those five rings alone. lebron probly dont have a ring yet but he will win as much or more than kobe. kobe is no wack but ya stupid people cant say lebron sucks.alright so stop beging lebron haters because belive it or not hes the best player if u like it or not PIECE IM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. yo ya dum people need to stop beging lebron haters cause hes a beast and look where hes at now 1 win away from going to the chip if kobe was the best that was probly five years ago when he had shaq and won four. And now gasol, odom, artest and phil jackson and won his fifth.lebron is the best he brang a franchise from the bottom to the top the cavs and bang them to the finals all by him self u cannot say kobe won any of those five rings alone. lebron probly dont have a ring yet but he will win as much or more than kobe. kobe is no wack but ya stupid people cant say lebron sucks.alright so stop beging lebron haters because belive it or not hes the best player if u like it or not PIECE IM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. i agree with this.. lebron is the best at this time (individually).. not that i am a lebron fan nor a kobe hater but you can’t really gauge a player’s ability with championship rings..

  38. u are stupid buddy.. f u cant play basketbal coz ur just watching?? then atleast understand the game.. its rili lebron or jordan not kobe is the best in this game! i bet my life for it..

  39. d rose.. kobe, etc.. haaayyssss.. get a life stupid!! thos rose and kobe cant even pass a bal.. assist made coz hes dishing gasol just below the rim.. and how bwt lebron?? dishing not just wad and bosh.. everyone man? get a life go and play chess.. u cant even understand how the game shud be played. now kobes wishing for howard for the next season.. lols poor one. after using gasol.. now hes, huhuhhu.. its howard tym. lols poor fans this season

  40. lebron is not d best… KOBE IS THE BEST NBA PLAYER OF HIS GENERATION.
KOBE IS ONE OF THE BEST THE NBA EVER PRODUCED NEXT TO MICHAEL JORDAN. RECORDS SHOW IT…LEBRON IS THE BEST OF THE GREATEST LOOSER

  41. lebron is a pussy, kobe is better but currently dirk is the most clutch performer in nba. lebron is very over rated he cant win championship! even he is surrounded with superstars. Dwyane Wade is also a good player and I feel sorry for him because lebron choke again. If he can’t win a title on his entire career he would be the biggest joke in nba history!

  42. currently dirk is the best player because dallas mavericks are the champions and he is the mvp of the finals, derrick rose is the second because he is the mvp of the season, why i’m saying this? because mvp of the season is useless if you can’t win championship, so if the bulls will win and derrick rose will be the mvp of the finals next year, he will be the best player, in short my opinion the best player would be the mvp of the finals each year, so magic, jordan, shaq, duncan, kobe, wade, billups, pierce are examples of best players. lebron doesn’t have one so he’s suck!

  43. KOBE is DEFINATLy BETTER THAN LEbRON!!!! WTF are you talking about ?
    kobe’s got ring ! lebron’s got nothing! >:0

  44. kobe is the best player ever to touch da ball man yall r some kobe haters that’s why he bussed on lebron about 60,000 times. kobe is better than ray allen. he better then michael jordan.

  45. Greg oden is the best player to ever play the game hands down you guys are some dumb fucks…..mel gibson is second btw…..

  46. LeBron James is the best player that is in the NBA right now. Kobe sucks he is a big baby and cries about everything. if they played 1 on 1 LeBron would kill Kobe!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. 4 me lebron s dbest player individually..coz he bring the cavs.to the top even without big players be a part of his team..besides hes my idol on the hardcoart at this time ..his quickness strong agresiv and i describe him as a monster..when he wants to dunk..

  48. I’m sorry, but one person making any of those figures is ridiculous (owners too!!)…No wonder there is a lockout now… Too many greedy people and not enough who just want to play ball and enjoy the game of basketball…Now everyone suffers including everyone that rely on the game for their livelihood.
These players & owners earn millions and millions a year…get a grip people and stop fucking worrying about “HOW MUCH I DESERVE”!! and think about the future of your team and the people & communities who support your teams.
