ACC – Duke Still Undefeated, Virginia Too

Duke beat Wake Forest

There are three undefeated teams left in the 2014-2015 College Basketball season. Kentucky in the SEC and the top contenders to go all the way, while Duke and Virginia in the ACC offer  less flashy and heralded option for not losing, although just as effective.

The Blue Devils improved to 14-0 this season and 2-0 in conference play following a 73-65 win over Wake Forest. Justise Winslow scored 20 points and was helped out by Jahlil Okafor with 12 points and 11 rebounds. This was their most difficult game of the season thus far.

Entering the contest at Winston-Salem, Duke have trailed for only 6 minutes and 13 seconds all season. In the win over Wake Forest, they were behind for just over five minutes in this game and actually fell behind by more than they have all season, allowing them to jump to a 6-0 lead.

Yes, they’ve been this dominant this season.

As for the Cavaliers, it’s also on to 14-0 and 2-0, as their brand of excellent defense and slow basketball with some very good rebounding and work in the paint seems to be working well enough, maybe good enough to win another ACC title.

They came away with a 61-51 win over North Carolina State which should keep them as the number three team in the nation, led by 16 points and 9 rebounds from Justin Anderson, helped out by 14 points from Malcolm Brogdon.

They’ve now won 19 consecutive times at home, holding the Wolfpack to only nine field goals and just 20 points throughout the entire second half. They scored 15 points off second chance opportunities, and are second in the nation in points allowed, giving up just 50.8 a game.
