College Football – Ohio State Fans Can’t Wait For the Season to Begin

Ohio State Spring Game

The old record for attendance at the spring game? It belonged to Ohio State. The new one? Set by the Buckeyes again, drawing 99,391 fans to Ohio Stadium in order to celebrate once more their national championship, and start getting ready for the 2015 season.

The previous record held by the Buckeyes was 95,722 from 2009. Their latest achievement extends their lead over Alabama, drawing over 84,000 four times to the spring game, including a record 92,310. More than 65,000 showed up this weekend for their 2015 spring game.

Overall there seems to be a lot of excitement across the Big Ten, especially at Ann Arbor with a new coaching staff coming in and helping bring in more than 66,000 to watch the spring game. At Nebraska it felt almost like a regular Saturday as 76,881 were close to filling out Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Besides getting excited about the new season and celebrating their national championship, the first in the College Football playoff era, there was the quarterback battle to witness. The Buckeyes started last season with Braxton Miller, carried on with J.T. Barrett and finished in the biggest three games of the season with Chandler Jones.

As someone once said, Ohio State, and other schools of this caliber, don’t recruit quarterbacks to be third-stringers. They’re all intended initially to start.
