NFL Rumors – Chicago Bears & St. Louis Rams in Michael Brockers Trade Talk

Michael Brockers

The 2015 NFL draft is only a day away, and it means a lot of player + picks swaps are coming. One of them might be between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams, involving defensive tackle Michael Brockers and some picks.

The Bears need help on defense and pretty much everywhere. The Rams are loaded on the defensive line and plan to keep on making defensive picks according to Jeff Fisher, although it’s hard to believe anything coming out of the mouths of coaches and general managers before draft day or in general.

The deal discussed will involve picks getting swapped and Brockers leaving the Rams to Chicago. The 24-year old who played for LSU in college has been a starter for the Rams these last three years, playing in all 32 games in 2013 and 2014.

The 14th overall pick in the 2012 draft, Brockers has two more years left on his deal, but 2016 is an option worth $6.1 million. He’s making $1.6 million in base salary in 2015 and his cap hit comes to $3 million. While the Rams aren’t exactly disappointed with him, they don’t want to pay him so much, and prefer making it another team’s headache while moving up the draft a little bit while dumping his salary. On the Bears he might be more useful.
