Despite Floyd Mayweather beating Manny Pacquiao with a unanimous decision and probably ending the debate about who the better boxer is, not all memes were congratulating the undefeated champion, who is never going to be loved or truly respected by the majority, sometimes for good reasons.

Mayweather is an incredible fighter. But he’s boring to watch. He doesn’t want to go toe to toe with anyone, especially not Pacquiao. There’s nothing illegal about staying in your comfort zone when you know you’ve got everyone beat that way. It’s boring as hell, not to mention is blended with illegal head locking, clutching and hugging that he’ll never actually be punished for, but that’s part of the sport.

Manny Pacquiao did get in a few good hits, but it never really changed the course of the fight. It simply taught Mayweather what to look out for, and he did. Pacquiao didn’t want to risk getting knocked out, and so put himself in a position to get jabbed rather easily by Mayweather. It might not really have an effect, but it works wonders on the scorecards.

Mayweather doesn’t change his legacy, he only got richer, and remained undefeated. But he got the Pacquiao question, even if it did happen six years too late, out of the way, not leaving any doubt about who is the best boxer right now.
