NFL Rumors – San Francisco 49ers Got Rid of Jim Harbaugh Because he Made Fun of Jed York

On one hand, Jim Harbaugh is no longer with the San Francisco 49ers. On the other hand, it’s very interesting, from a gossipy point of view, to learn how the relationship between him, Jed York and Trent Baalke deteriorated to the point that a very successful head coach was fired by mutual agreement.

So what actually happened that drove the final wedge between them? According to Kyle McLorg who has been quite trustworthy in the past with breaking stories about Patrick Willis retiring or Perrish Cox leaving, it was Harbaugh adding fuel to the already burning fire by insulting York, the CEO of the franchise, in front of the team’s players.

The story suggests Harbaugh was having a meeting with the players when York walked in. Harbaugh then told him that the meeting was ‘for men only.’ It wasn’t the first rift causer between the two, and Harbaugh has been known to piss off a person or two that has worked above him or under him over the years, but telling that to your boss is never a good way to maintain civil relationships at the workplace.

Since the two sides parted, Harbaugh signed to coach Michigan, his alma mater, also making him the highest paid coach in college football. The 49ers hired Jim Tomsula, the former defensive line coach, to the HC job, while losing players at an alarming rate to injuries, free agency and retirements, expected and surprising.
