NFL Rumors – St. Louis Rams Interested in Signing Nick Foles to a Long Term Contract

Before he has even thrown a single pass for the St. Louis Rams, Nick Foles is already likely to be signed on a long term deal by the franchise which might be on its way to Los Angeles.

Foles was traded by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Rams in exchange for Sam Bradford along with some draft picks changing hands. The former Arizona quarterback didn’t have the best of seasons in 2014, mostly because of an injury that sidelines him for half the season, but it’s not like he hasn’t been able to show something during his three years in the league.

In 2013 he took over the starting quarterback role from Michael Vick and led the Eagles to the playoffs in Chip Kelly’s first season. Foles completed 64% of his passes and led the NFL in throws caught for touchdowns per overall passes with 8.5% of his passes reaching the end zone. He also led the league in yards per attempt and passer rating with 119.2.

So is that the real Foles, or the slowed down version we saw in 2014 the actual him. It’s worth remembering that the Eagles went 14-4 with Foles as their starter since the beginning of 2013, but the Rams, a team that hasn’t been to the postseason in a decade, aren’t as easy to push forward.

For the Rams anything at quarterback will be an upgrade compared to last season, another year of suffering an early season-ending injury to Bradford. Austin Davis and Shaun Hill shared the quarterback spot, which didn’t really get them anywhere. Even the prospect of Foles seems more enduring to them than what they had last year.
