The Cincinnati Bengals wanted to get a contract extension for A.J. Green done this offseason, but the star wide receiver prefers to leave it hanging over everyone’s heads for a season before hitting the negotiations table.
Green has caught for over 1000 yards in all of his four seasons in the NFL, including 1041 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2014 despite playing in just 13 games AND having Andy Dalton throwing the ball to him.
The Bengals, seeing the situation both the Broncos and the Cowboys are in right now with Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas, preferred to settle things now and were making offers towards Green.
However, the former Georgia player ignored the Bengals making extending him a top priority, suggesting that he doesn’t plan to worry about his deal until it expires next year, hoping it helps him and his team avoid any distractions this year.
