NBA Summer League:  Chicago Bulls & Minnesota Timberwolves Impressed with Bobby Portis & Karl-Anthony Towns

In another day of Summer League basketball, the Chicago Bulls had to be pleased with Doug McDermott and rookie Bobby Portis, while the Minnesota Timberwolves got to see the best of Karl-Anthony Towns, so far.

The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Houston Rockets 97-93. Sean Kilpatrick led the Bucks with 26 points, followed by 23 from Rashad Vaughn and 20 by Kevin Jones. Undrafted Alan Williams led the Rockets with 17 points, while Glen Rice Jr. added 16.

The Brooklyn Nets beat the Philadelphia 76ers (playing without Jahlil Okafor) 75-68. Markel Brown led the Nets with 23 points while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored just 2 points but did pull off one impressive rejection.

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Miami Heat (not playing Justise Winslow) 75-64. Mike Muscala led the Hawks with 15 points. Shabazz Napier scored 21 for the Heat, but did turn the ball over 7 times.

The Golden State Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings 83-67 with James Michael McAdoo leading the team, scoring 20 points in 23 minutes, also grabbing 9 rebounds. David Stockton led the Kings with 17 points. Willie Cauley-Stein didn’t impress with 6 points.

The Washington Wizards beat the Utah Jazz 86-78. Bryce Cotton led the Jazz with 20 points while Scott Machado, trying to make his way back into the NBA, finished with 17 for the Wizards.

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 88-80. Jeremy Tyler had a big game with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavs, while Jabari Brown finished with 19 for the Lakers. Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson scored 17 each, while D’Angelo Russell finished with 8 points on 3-of-11 shooting but threading some nice passes along the way.

The Chicago Bulls looked impressive in a 91-73 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Doug McDermott, Vander Blue and Bobby Portis each scored 16 points to lead the team. Portis also grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 82-77 behind 16 points from Noah Vonleh but lost Alan Crabbe to injury. Karl Anthony-Towns had his best summer league game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
