Match Highlights – Arsenal vs Chelsea

The first title of the 2015-2016 season goes to Arsenal, winning the Community Shield for a second consecutive season, beating Chelsea 1-0 with a wonderful goal from Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain.

Chelsea kept Falcao on the bench until the 45th minute, but his entrance for Loic Remy didn’t make much of a difference. Chelsea did create more chances overall, but we saw more dangerous moments coming from Arsenal players, including a clear cut chance for Kieran Gibbs in the final seconds, barely saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Petr Cech played well and calmly at goal for Arsenal in his first official match for the gunners, starting with Theo Walcott as their target man, and maybe hinting that Olivier Giroud isn’t going to be getting too many minutes this season, or perhaps Karim Benzema is arriving?

Oscar gave Cech his best test in the 69th minute with a fantastic free kick, but the Chelsea midfield overall seemed a bit confounded with Arsenal’s speed and counter attacking habits, allowing Aaron Ramsey to put Chelsea’s defense in an awkward situation with five minutes to go.

This title doesn’t mean anything, but it is a feel good way to start the season, especially for Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger actually picks up his first official win over Jose Mourinho. If this has any bearing on the league season? It usually has nothing to do with it, but you can’t go wrong with starting off the season victorious, lifting a trophy to boot.
