NFL Rumors – Green Bay Packers Have Aaron Rodgers for Eight More Years

Aaron Rodgers

Not that Aaron Rodgers saying he has eight more seasons left in his career actually means anything, but the Green Bay Packers mentioning some vague future date of retirement is newsworthy because it’s the offseason.

Rodgers has already said in the past (two years ago) that he plans to play for eight more seasons. Now, after ten seasons in the league, it’s still eight more. In short, Rodgers is going to play until his body tells him to stop.

One thing that is pushing Rodgers, arguably the best quarterback in the NFL for the last few years and also a two-time regular season MVP, is the Super Bowl factor. He’s been a starter in Green Bay for seven seasons, in which the team has made the playoffs six times (2009-2014). They have one NFL championship in that time, and Rodgers wants to bring more to Green Bay.

The Packers are 7-5 with Rodgers as their starter in the postseason, and it seems that since winning the Super Bowl in 2010, there’s always something missing, usually on defense, to make the full playoff run. Last season they already built a promising lead on the road against the Seahawks in the NFC championship game but struggled for various reasons and in a number of ways in a second half collapse.
