NFL Rumors – Kansas City Chiefs Are Going to Play Eric Berry in Preseason

Eric Berry

Despite being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma only 10 months ago, Eric Berry is 100% cleared, doing well in training camp and will probably feature for the Kansas City Chiefs when they take the field in preseason for the first time this weekend.

Berry missed 10 games last season, first because of a high ankle sprain and then, after complaining about chest pains during a November game against the Oakland Raiders, a mass was discovered in his chest, eventually being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

On July 28, Berry was cleared to resume football activities and take part in training camp, where he’s been looking better and better football-wise as the days go by. It’ll be interesting to see at what stage Andy Reid involves him, as the plan is to give the first team the first quarter, the second-stringers the second quarter and part of the third before the rest of the guys, a lot of them trying to stay on the team once the next cut cycle comes along, play what’s left of the game.

Berry, a 26-year old safety, was the fifth overall pick by the Chiefs in the 2010 draft. He has 8 interceptions in 53 career games, missing the entire 2011 season because of a torn ACL. He recovered brilliantly from that injury, making two Pro Bowls after that (also one in 2010) and also selected to the first team All-Pro in 2013.
