The preseason has been pretty good for Jacksonville Jaguars and Blake Bortles, although the second year quarterback is going to be have trouble during the season if his offensive line keeps letting him down.
Bortles carried on with his good preseason in a 22-12 loss to the New York Giants, helping the Jaguars scored three times on drives led by him, although they were all field goals. He finished with 8-of-16 for 98 yards, and touchdowns were denied by poor plays from his offensive line, a holding penalty and one drop that cost them more points.
The Jaguars didn’t score any touchdowns, but they made Eli Manning look very bad once again, although Manning tends to give it far less than his all during the preseason.
Denard Robinson led the Jaguars on the ground with 19 yards, while Bernard Pierce and Toby Gerhart will try to take away touches from him in a wide open competition for the running back position.
The Jaguars do have problems all across the board with injuries. Julius Thomas, Marqise Lee and T.J. Yeldon didn’t even play, while Josh Wells, Arrelious Benn, LaRoy Reynolds and Damian Copeland were added to the long list of unavailable players.
