NFL Rumors – New York Giants & Eli Manning Always Disappoint in Preseason

Eli Manning

The New York Giants winning their preseason game 22-12 doesn’t really matter. It’s all about what the starters do, and Eli Manning especially. It’s hard to say the Giants were pleased with what they saw.

Manning rarely looks good in the preseason, but it has to say something about the regular season, does it? While the defense played its part, including forcing a fumble, the offense stuttered when Manning was on the field.

He completed just 4-of-14 passes for 46 yards and couldn’t connect with his number one target, Odell Beckham Jr. with all eyes on him after an incredibly successful rookie season.

Manning tried to find Beckham five times but came up short, long or wide, although one of those incompletions was Beckham dropping the ball in the endzone.

The Giants were playing without three starters (Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Prince Amukamara), but also lost some players during the game like Jon Beason with a sprained knee while Justin Currie broke his right ankle and fellow safety Bennett Jackson sprained a knee.

Damontre Moore, a backup defensive end for the Giants, impressed with five tackles and two sacks against his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ryan Nassib, Manning’s backup, threw one touchdown pass and overall looked good with 19-of-35 for 217 yards.
