The main event of possibly the competition was won by Usain Bolt, taking the 100 meters race once again with a 9.79 seconds sprint, barely beating the controversial Justin Gatlin. Jessica Ennis-Hill won the Women’s heptathlon once again, Joe Kovacs of the United States took gold in the men’s shot put and Pawel Fajdek won the gold medal in the men’s hammer throw.

Men’s 100 meters: The final was filled with sprinters who have been disqualified and suspended in the past for PEDs. In the end, Usain Bolt took his third gold in this event since 2009, finishing with a 9.79 despite a slow start, barely edging out Justin Gatlin with a 9.80, while Trayvon Bromell of the United States and Andre De Grasse shared the bronze with 9.92.

Women’s Heptathlon: Jessica Ennis-Hill completed her comeback with her second world championship gold in the heptathlon, finishing with 6669 points, ahead of Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Canada with 6554 for silver and Laura Ikauniece-Admidiņa of Latvia with 6514 (national record) for bronze.

Men’s shot put: The 26-year old American Joe Kovacs won the gold with a 21.93 throw on his fifth attempt, beating David Storl of Germany, taking silver on 21.74 and O’Dayne Richard of Jamaica, taking bronze on a 21.69, setting a new national record.

Men’s hammer throw: Gold and bronze go to Poland. The winner by more than two meters is Paweł Fajdek, throwing it for 80.88 meters. Silver went to Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan for his 78.55 throw, beating Wojciech Nowicki who took bronze on 78.55, but had poor results on the other attempts.
