NFL Rumors – Dallas Cowboys Don’t Risk Tony Romo For Preseason Meaninglessness

Tony Romo

The turf wasn’t as bad as advertised, but the Dallas Cowboys didn’t give Tony Romo more than one series against the San Francisco 49ers, looking bad in a 23-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Romo had one series of three and out in which he completed just one pass for a loss while handing off the ball on other occasions, making it a short preseason appearance for him.

Brandon Weeden played and suffered a concussion in an injury filled day in other games as well. David Vaughn was intercepted twice and the only Cowboys quarterback to help them get on the scoreboard was Jameill Showers, throwing a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter after already falling behind by 23 points.

At running back, Julius Randle looked pretty good with 30 yards on 7 carries while Darren McFadden struggled, going for four yards on three carries. It was his debut for the Cowboys in the preseason, and while not a very good one, he hopes it was just him shaking off a little rust.
