The Green Bay Packers probably feel very negatively about preseason now that they’ve lost Jordy Nelson with an ACL tear, dealing a huge blow to their aspirations and plans for the 2015 NFL season.
It doesn’t matter that Aaron Rodgers looked good in the two series he was on the field, completing 4-of-5 passes for 57 yards, and one of the drives ending in a touchdown by Eddie Lacy. Rodgers was angry at the end of the game with Nelson injuring himself after a reception and planting his foot in an unlucky way. For it to happen in a game that means nothing once again shows the difference of opinion between the league and the players regarding the whole process of the preseason.
Rodgers himself hurt his forearm during the game but said that it wouldn’t even be mentioned if this wasn’t the preseason. Guard T.J. Lang went out in the first half to be monitored for a concussion, while linebacker Adrian Hubbard and cornerback Damarious Randall were treated with IV fluids due to dehydration.
Randall Cobb had one reception for 30 yards and Nelson’s injury means more pressure on him with Rodgers focusing on him to be his #1 guy next season, while someone, probably Davante Adams, will need to step up from the second teir of wide receivers.
