With problems in the offensive line in front of him, Andy Dalton couldn’t have looked any worse for the Cincinnati Bengals in a 25-11 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the preseason debut Dalton actually looked sharp, but things were the opposite in the loss to the Buccaneers. Dalton was sacked three times, intercepted twice while his first three drives ended with the Bengals punting. The first interception was A.J. Green’s fault, but the second one was Dalton overthrowing his target.
Jeremy Hill fumbled one ball as well and the offense got a net of 49 yards on 26 plays while Dalton was on the field. Things weren’t much better with A.J. McCarron on for him, but it was a slight improvement.
Hill got 16 yards on four carries besides his fumble and Giovani Bernard rushed for 8 yards on three carries, also catching one pass for 7 yards. A.J. Green caught two passes for 24 yards.
The only one actually scoring for the Bengals was James Wilder Jr. with two rushes for 14 yards, including a five yard run in the fourth quarter that got him into the end zone. The former Florida State running back also took care of the two-point conversion.
