NFL Rumors – Dallas Cowboys Finally Get Something From Tony Romo; Even Darren McFadden

Tony Romo

The Dallas Cowboys don’t care about losses in the preseason, they didn’t stop them last season. But putting Tony Romo on the field for more than one series and seeing him play well, while Darren McFadden looks injury free and actually sharp, makes the 28-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings worth it.

Romo had just one series of football before the third preseason game for the Cowboys, but looked sharp in five drives, completing 5-of-8 passes for 88 yards and a couple of touchdowns, finding Terrance Williams and Lucky Whitehead, giving the Cowboys a 14-13 before leaving the field.

McFadden hardly got a chance to do anything in this preseason, injuries getting in the way as well. He looked better than Julius Randle in another chapter of the battle between the two for a starting spot, rushing for 37 yards on four carries, while Randle got just 15 yards on six carries.

Dez Bryant didn’t play, as the Cowboys are taking his minor injury very seriously, taking the extra cautious approach now that he’s making $14 million a season. Williams had one reception for 60 yards and a score, and no one else caught for more than 20 yards.

Rookie defensive end Randy Gregory looked good with his third sack of the preseason, getting to Teddy Bridgewater inside the Dallas 10. Sean Lee, missing all of last season, was on the field for 17 snaps, and probably needs a few more runs to get more comfortable and useful.
