After posting perfect passer ratings in previous preseason games, Matt Ryan found it hard not getting hit in a loss to the Miami Dolphins, as the Atlanta Falcons protection game and schemes complete failed.
Ryan completed 3-of-7 passes for 49 yards and was sacked three times by a very aggressive and opportunistic pass rush from the Dolphins. The Falcons ran 15 plays against the Dolphins first team defense. They finished with 33 passing yards and -1 rushing yards before things got easier.
The Falcons didn’t play Julio Jones shortly after announcing that the two sides have an extension worth $71.25 million over five years. Nick Williams, a free agent trying to remain on the 53-man roster, had a good day with 4 receptions for 43 yards, while Leonard Hankerson led all receivers with 3 catches for 50 yards.
The running game didn’t look any better than the passing behind the disappointing offensive line with just 50 yards on 24 carries. Tevin Coleman got just two yards on four carries.
