Just the preseason, but playing for the Philadelphia Eagles is making Sam Bradford look better than he has ever been in an offense filled win over the Green Bay Packers, playing without Aaron Rodgers.
Bradford was perfect with 10-of-10 for 121 yards and three touchdown passes, while Mark Sanchez threw a couple of himself. Both Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow didn’t do much to distinguish themselves in the battle for the third quarterback spot.
The Eagles were up 25-0 after the first quarter, 39-14 at halftime, winning 39-26. Bradford threw a touchdown pass on each of his three drives, finding Darren Sproles, Trey Burton and Brent Celek for the scores. Sanchez completed touchdown throws to Burton Jeff Maehl, while Walter Thurmond III returned an interception for a touchdown himself.
The Eagles finished with 401 yards, not needing much from their running backs. DeMarco Murray ran for 28 yards on six carries while Ryan Mathews finished with 22 yards on 7 attempts.
Rodgers didn’t play because most of his offensive line was injured, and there was no reason risking him. Jordy Nelson is out for the season and now Randall Cobb is another receiver to worry about, leaving the game early on with an injury that could turn out to be more than just a minor knock.
