It’s been a less than stellar preseason for Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, but in a 24-14 win over the St. Louis Rams, things looked better than they have so far.
Luck threw a touchdown pass for the first time in preseason, finding Andre Johnson on a 32-yard touchdown pass down the middle. He finished the game with 12-of-21 for 161 yards, also fumbling a ball on a hand off gone bad with rookie running back Josh Robinson. It probably was more of a Robinson fault on this one than Luck’s, but the start error goes to the quarterback.
The Colts got to decide the game in the fourth quarter (11-0) thanks to an interception off of rookie quarterback Sean Mannion. The Jalil Brown interception set up a Tyler Varga touchdown run to give the Colts a 20-14 lead.
This was the first preseason win for the Colts after seven consecutive losses. Considering how well they’ve played in the regular season since Luck has joined the team, it’s safe to say their record in the preseason once again shouldn’t be the thing people look at.
Luck still hasn’t thrown an interception in the preseason. Overall he has completed 22 of 36 passes for 275 yards. Daniel Herron led the team on the ground with 25 rushing yards, while T.Y. Hilton, with 3 receptions for 44 yards, led the receivers.
