NFL Rumors – San Francisco 49ers Hoping Awful Colin Kaepernick Preseason Means Nothing

Colin Kaepernick

The biggest year for Colin Kaepernick in his short NFL career will hopefully look better than his preseason after another poor passing performance from the San Francisco 49ers quarterback in a loss to the Denver Broncos.

Kaepernick did go out on a few impressive runs (not all planned), finishing with 53 yards on three carries to lead the 49ers running numbers, but his passing and overall ability to make plays happen with his arms were disappointing for a third time.

He didn’t complete a pass until late in the first half and finished with just 2-of-5 for 13 yards, sacked twice by the Broncos defense, including once in the end zone by DeMarcus Ware resulting in a safety.

Overall in the preseason he has completed just 5-of-13 passes for 40 yards. Sure, the preseason is about getting better, getting into rhythm, fine tuning and coming together as a team. But Kaepernick, not in the league for his first or second year, has to look better than this, does he? Or is everything we see in preseason one big nothing?

The defense looked good with its ability to hound and get to Peyton Manning with three sacks, with Corey Lemonier impressing (three tackles, one sack) as he rises up the depth chart because of Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks not being with the team.

On another negative note, Jarryd Hayne didn’t cause any excitement this time, finishing with 0 yards on two carries and getting just 12 yards out of his punt return.
