NFL Rumors – Atlanta Falcons Interested in Signing Montee Ball

Montee Ball

After a stellar career in college football, things haven’t worked out for Montee Ball in the NFL, finding himself without a team, unclaimed after waivers. But it seems the Atlanta Falcons are interested in seeing what he’s got, so maybe there’s some hope to his NFL career.

Ball was cut by the Denver Broncos following two seasons in which he carried the ball 175 times for 731 yards and five touchdowns. He was injured for most of last season, playing just five games, but he really didn’t leave any positive impression on the Broncos during training camp and preseason games.

Ball wasn’t the only running back left without a team following waivers. No running back or wide receiver was claimed by any team through waivers, but now interest is starting to pick up.

The Falcons don’t really have a #1 running back they feel comfortable with. Tevin Coleman? Maybe Devonta Freeman? Ball, who averaged 4.2 yards per carry in two seasons with the Broncos, might be better than both of them, but that’s not saying much. The Falcons might not be the only team after him.

Ball was a stud for Wisconsin, playing four years in Madison. He rushed for 5140 yards, including over 1800 in each of his last two seasons, scoring a total of 83 touchdowns, holding the FBS record. His 77 rushing touchdowns are also the division I record.
