NFL Rumors – Houston Texans Can’t Afford to be Patient With Arian Foster

Arian Foster

The Houston Texans don’t have the talent or the luxury for Arian Foster to slowly find his legs again. He had an unimpressive debut after missing the first two weeks of the season. Now it’s time for him to put up his usual numbers again.

The Texans are 1-3 heading into a big divisional game with the Indianapolis Colts. Considering that their quarterback options are either Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett, there’s no choice but to lean on Foster, even if it’s a bit early for him on his return graph.

Foster ran 8 times for 10 yards against the Falcons, not what the Texans wanted to see from their leading rusher last season. He caught three passes for 25 yards, but obviously, the expectations are for him to get things going on the ground, and maybe then open up some space for their limited quarterbacks to make something happen.

After having the fifth best rushing offense in the league last season, with Foster finishing with 1246 yards and 8 touchdowns, the Texans are currently 21st in the NFL in rushing yards per game at 99.8 per game and a very bad 3.7 yards per carry. The team’s leading rusher is Alfred Blue with 204 yards on 51 carries, followed by Chris Polk with 92 yards, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.

The Indianapolis Colts have the 25th best running defense in the NFL, so this might be the perfect opportunity for Foster and the Texans to establish their running game and hope the momentum sticks.
