2015 College Football Season – Week 7 BCS Standings

If the standings determining the College Football Playoff would still be made according to the BCS, it would be Ohio State (also number one here), LSU, TCU and Utah making the final four, with Baylor, getting a lot of love from the human polls, would be left out.

While the BCS is gone, it’s still interesting to get a glimpse of how it would still be ranking teams at the moment, with GryphonNumber7 of Reddit taking the AP Poll, Coaches poll and the six computer rankings (Anderson & Hester College Football Computer RankingsBillingsly ReportColley MatrixMassey RatingsJeff Sagarin’s College Football RankingsPeter Wolfe’s Rankings) to produce a very similar overview of what the BCS would have given before we moved on to the playoff committee.

21 Houston 317 289 9 16.05%
22 Temple 216 163 17 13.84%
23 Ole Miss 157 201 12 11.69%
24 Duke 210 305 0 11.05%
25 Georgia 12 95 9 5.27%

It would also mean that Georgia make it into the top 25 and California are also in there, while Pittsburgh and Duke would be left out. So far the computers seem to adore LSU and Utah, both undefeated, who have gone through a difficult schedule in the SEC and Pac-12 up to this point. Ohio State, number one in both human polls, would be third by the computers with Michigan State and Clemson also getting impressive scores.

Baylor, number two in the AP and Coaches poll, are ranked below Alabama, Iowa and Florida according to the computers. Despite their very low strength of schedule, Ole Miss and Temple still manage to make it in thanks to high human rankings. Memphis, who have had the more impressive and difficult schedule, get more points from the computers than Texas A&M and Stanford who overall are ranked above them thanks to the love from AP and Coaches polls.
