James Milner Goals Sends Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp to 6th in Premier League Table

The momentum from wins over Manchester City and Bordeaux in the Europa League carried back to the bread & butter for Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League teams, outplaying and eventually beating Swansea 1-0 from a James Milner penalty.

Playing without Philippe Coutinho, it was always going to be a frustrating afternoon for the reds, looking to join the leading pack, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Leicester all losing points. It wasn’t a brilliant performance, but Milner’s goal was enough for a nervy win, raising Liverpool to sixth in the league, six points behind the leaders and only four points from the 4th Champions League spot.

More good news came from the site of both Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge finding their way back on the pitch, coming in as substitutes. Klopp needs to find a way to get them back into the fray, but if both of them are going to find their form quickly, it’s a huge boost for Liverpool, who might find themselves back in the race for a Champions League spot, and maybe even more.
