The ‘Rafa Slam’ hopes are over. Rafael Nadal lost to fellow Spaniard David Ferrer in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 as Ferrer makes his second Grand Slam Semi Final. Clearly suffering from a leg injury, Nadal was far from his regular self and looked beaten, physically and mentally against the World no. 7. Nadal took a medical timeout to treat his problem and seemed to be on verge of tears at certain points of the third set. Ferrer did dominate him from the first moment pretty much, but as the match progressed, it was more and more evident why. Nadal is injured, again.

Meeting David Ferrer in the Semi Final will be Andy Murray, beating Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 7-5, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Murray was at times frustrated with the 22 year old who seemed to have a never-the-same variety of shots but eventually found the right ingredients for domination in the fourth set, finally finding consistency against Dolgopolov who shows a lot of promise for the rest of 2011.
The other Semi Final will pit Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
