NFL Rumors – Philadelphia Eagles & New York Jets Likely Landing Spots for Chris Givens

Chris Givens

Wide receiver Chris Givens, who has played for the St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens last season, is visiting with both the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles, hoping to land himself a cushy job for at least next season.

At this point, most teams are looking for steals and finds before the draft comes along. Givens might be that kind of player. In four seasons he has 107 receptions for 1779 yards (16.6 per reception) with five touchdowns, and doing a little bit of kick returning in his career. After three seasons with the Rams, he was traded early in the 2015 season to the Ravens. Overall, in 15 games last season, he finished with 353 receptions and one touchdown.

Givens isn’t exactly blowing people away by being available, but he’s a useful receiver who is just 26 and hasn’t lost significant time in any of his seasons in the league. Both the Jets and the Eagles might not have the biggest roles waiting for him (probably could find more touches in Philadelphia by the looks of things), but he isn’t going to be coming for much (maybe $2-2.5 million for one season at most) and should be able to help out from the slot or in loaded wide receiver sets.

Givens played his college football in Wake Forest, selected in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. His best season was his rookie year with 42 receptions, 698 yards and three touchdowns.
