NFL Rumors – Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins & Cleveland Browns Interested in Drafting Robby Anderson

NCAA Football: Penn State at Temple

There isn’t one consensus opinion on Temple wide receiver Robby Anderson, who has been picking up a lot of interest since the Owls pro day, with the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins showing some interest.

The 6’3 wideout played in 14 games last season, finishing with 70 receptions for 939 yards and 7 touchdowns. He ran a 4.3 40-yard dash at the Owls’ pro day, and has already visited with the Packers, Eagles and Browns. Green Bay are up next.

So what to make of Anderson, who needs to add weight and bulk up his frame, is capable of making some astounding catches but some think doesn’t have the safest hands in the world? There’s also the speed issue. Running a quick 40 is one thing, but creating separation off a cornerback and doing it with a ball downfield are two very different things. He hasn’t excelled in that area either.

One thing worth remembering about Anderson is that his development was a bit held back. He didn’t play in 2014 due to academic reasons, which meant he had a lot of rust to shed off in 2015, which happened gradually, but that was probably not the best he could have done on his final college season.

What makes him special is his bounce and ability to make some fantastic grabs between players. Good work on teaching him a little bit more about bouncing off cornerbacks early after the snap could go a long way for someone with long arms and a knack for being at the right place at the right time. He won’t be more than a fifth or sixth round pick, but teams are looking at him for more than just due diligence.
