Bayern Munich Bundesliga Champions

The French Ligue 1 and the Spanish La Liga offer opposite title race situations. In France, Paris Saint-Germain have already clinched their fourth consecutive league title and have a 27 (!!!) point lead at the top of the table. In Spain, Barcelona lead the table, but are level on points with Atletico Madrid and are just one point ahead of Real Madrid. But there’s also middle ground, with the Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga having teams that are close to clinching the title, but need a little bit more help.

English Premier League: With four matches to go, Leicester have a five point lead over Tottenham. As some have said, if this was another club leading the league right now, say Manchester City or Chelsea (the last two clubs to win championships) the media would have said it’s already over. But this is Leicester, a club without a single first tier league title, and a team that was almost relegated last season. They have Tottenham breathing down their neck, but they have just two losses in 2016 and it’s difficult seeing them fall apart this close to the finish line.

Italian Serie A: For Juventus, the fifth consecutive Scudetto is looking closer than ever. After only five points through the first six matches this season, they’ve been demolishing everything in their path, opening a nine point lead with four matches to go, leaving Napoli and Roma once again wondering what they could have done more. Since losing to Sassuolo on October 28, Juventus have won 23 of 24 matches, dropping only two points against Bologna. They’ve kept a clean sheet in 17 of those matches, as they continue to distance themselves from the rest of Italian Football.

German Bundesliga: This season hasn’t been as smooth or easy as in the past for Bayern Munich. Maybe it’s some sort of decline due to Pep Guardiola already announcing that he’s leaving. Maybe it has to do with Borussia Dortmund taking it up a notch. The bottom line? With three matches left to play, Bayern have a seven point lead and have won their last six matches. While Dortmund have put in a remarkable season, it looks like a fourth straight Bundesliga championship for Bayern Munich, who are still in the Champions League, awaiting a semifinal against Atletico Madrid.
