The NBA Summer League is just about over, with one game left, after the Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls won the semifinals, as Tyus Jones continued to light things up in Las Vegas, while the Bulls more balanced approach kept them undefeated.
Minnesota Timberwolves 93 Phoenix Suns 83: Like for most of this Summer League campaign, it was the ability of Tyus Jones and a little bit from Adreian Payne that put the Timberwolves through. Jones might be a huge question make in the regular season because of his height, but he sizzled in Vegas, scoring 29 points against the Suns, adding 6 assists. Payne had an impressive 18 points and 10 rebounds in just under 21 minutes. For the Suns, Troy Williams with 24 points stood out, and Askia Booker scored 19. They didn’t unleash Devin Booker on Minnesota, and also left Dragan Bender out of the fray this time.
Cleveland Cavaliers 79 Chicago Bulls 85: The Jordan McRae show came to an end against the Bulls, scoring only 16 points on 6-for-16 from the field, while Kay Felder led the way scoring 22 points. The Bulls are undefeated in the Summer League this year, led by Christiano Felicion on this occasions with 18 points, while Bobby Portis helped out scoring 16. The backcourt of Denzel Valentine and Jerian Grant looked better and better as the league progressed, this time each of them scoring 13 points, including three tres from Valentine, who also grabbed 8 rebounds. This might very well a Bulls second unit combination we’ll see in the regular season.
