NFL: Week 2 Preseason Scores

Dak Prescott, Tony Romo

In a short day of action, the Dallas Cowboys stood out with another terrific performance from backup quarterback Dak Prescott, involved in four touchdowns, while Tony Romo had a quiet preseason debut. Colt McCoy looked pretty good for the Redskins, still without Cousins in their preseason games, while no offense went the San Diego Chargers way against a rough looking Arizona Cardinals team, as both teams failed to score an offensive touchdown.

Miami Dolphins (1-1) 14  Dallas Cowboys (1-1) 41: The Cowboys have holes in their team, but quarterback and backup aren’t one of them. Tony Romo looked good in a short series, completing 4-for-5 and 80 yards. Dak Prescott, once again, looked terrific, completing 12-of-15 for 199, throwing touchdown passes to Brice Butler and Dez Bryant, while also running for a couple himself, in a very reassuring performance. Ryan Tannehill looked good in his stint, throwing for 162 yards and a couple of touchdowns, both of them to Kenny Stills.

New York Jets (1-1) 18  Washington Redskins (1-1) 22: No Kirk Cousins, but Colt McCoy did a good job with 159 yards and two touchdown passes (one interception), but the Redskins were worried about running back Matt Jones leaving with an injury. Rashad Ross, trying to win a roster spot, caught both of the touchdown passes from McCoy. No quarterback impressed on the Jets. Geno Smith threw an interception, Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t do much, Bryce Petty threw two touchdown passes against the weaker on-field team.

Arizona Cardinals (0-2) 3  San Diego Chargers (1-1) 19: A bad day for offenses in general, with the only touchdown coming from Brandon Flowers, returning a Carson Palmer interception 25 yards for the score. Both Palmer and Drew Stanton threw picks, and the Cards finished with just 209 yards of offense. Philip Rivers still didn’t play, giving Mike Bercovici and Kellen Clemens a chance to fight for the backup role, as Bercovici was probably the better one on the day.
