The best match of the night as teams from groups E through H of the Champions League was in Paris, as PSG became the first team to beat Barcelona this season in a wonderful 3-2 victory. Chelsea beat Sporting in Lisbon, Bayern Munich slumbered to a victory in Moscow and Manchester City are still without a win after a home draw against Roma.

A North London derby that ended in a 1-1 draw between Arsenal and Tottenham, as Spurs took the lead through a Nacer Chadli goal before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalized, both goals coming in the second half.

Match Highlights – Chelsea vs Aston Villa, Manchester United vs West Ham

The Premier League leaders had no problem in a 3-0 home win over Aston Villa, as Chelsea enjoyed goals from Oscar, Diego Costa and Willian to walk away victorious while Manchester United, as always, barely scrape through a 2-1 win after leading through Wayne Rooney (sent off later on) and Robin van Persie, before Diafra Sakho made things interesting.

Not the best of performances from Real Madrid who were mostly pinned back by an adventurous Villarreal side, but first half goals from Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo were enough for them to pick up another league win.

Match Highlights – Liverpool vs Everton

Football isn’t about justice – it’s about making the most of the opportunities you’re given. Everton come away from Anfield with an undeserved 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby, as Liverpool took the lead through a Steven Gerrard free kick, but a stunning Phil Jagielka equalizer in the 91st minute meant both teams remain in the bottom half of the table.

Match Highlights – Liverpool vs Middlesbrough

Exactly three hours of football, extra time and penalty kicks were needed for Liverpool to beat Middlesbrough in the third round of the League Cup, as a 2-2 draw at the end of 120 minutes was followed by an incredible stretch of penalty kicks, with the home side winning the shootout 14-13 after Albert Adomah missed the 15th and final kick for the visitors from the Championship.
