  • The Kentucky Derby – The 2012 Final Four Version

    Kentucky will be the only #1 seed in the 2012 Final Four, which is an improvment for big teams after last year, in which no #1 or #2 seeds made it in to the last weekend for the first time in tournament history. Unlike 2011, a year with no clear favorites, Kentucky stand as the obvious choice to win at all, with Kansas, Ohio State and Louisville waiting in line.

  • Jim Boeheim Can’t Beat Big Ten Teams

    Jared Sullinger was too much, finishing with 19 point. Syracuse couldn’t keep Ohio State at bay with their zone defense that worked OK in the first half, but allowed 52.4% in the second half. Thad Matta is headed to his second final four with the Buckeyes in six years, while Jim Boeheim, who had a rough year off the court, tries to figure out how this happens against Big Ten teams all the time.

  • Tyler Zeller Won’t Be Enough For North Carolina in Midwest Finals

    The North Carolina Tar Heels knew it was going to be hard, despite the comfortable opponents from Ohio (#13), because of Kendall Marshall defenitley out. UNC couldn’t get their offense going all night, eventually pulling away in over time, with Tyler Zeller coming up with 20 points and 22 rebounds to lead them through.

  • Louisville Burst the Michigan State Bubble

    The Louisville Cardinals weren’t supposed to make it this far, ranked 17th in the nation and getting the #4 seed in the West Region. But Michigan State were overrated to begin with, partially because everybody loves Tom Izzo. Rick Pitino? Great coach, but not as loved, in an understatement kind of tone. Now the Cardinals are in the Elite eight, and the Spartans are the first #1 team to fall in the 2012 NCAA tournament.

  • 2012 NCAA Tournament – Kendall Marshall Injury and Tar Heels Hopes

    Kendall Marshall broke his wrist, and the North Carolina Tar Heels suddenly don’t look so good. Despite the 87-71 win in the third round over Creighton, sending them into the sweet sixteen for the fifth time in six years, the mood isn’t great. Marshall, who led the team with 18 points and 11 assists, is probably irreplaceable, and even if he somehow plays, it won’t be the same.

  • Kentucky Leads a Night Of No Surprises

    John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are in it for the whole thing, and so far there doesn’t seem to be anyone even near of interrupting their run to the final four. The Iowa State Cyclones made an impression by beating Uconn, but were hardly a match for the most talented group in College Basketball, losing 87-71 in the first day of the Last 32 action.

  • 2012 NCAA Tournament Diary – Day 1

    Uconn and Jim Calhoun became the first NCAA champion to bow down in the first round of next year’s NCAA tournament since UCLA in 1996, as the Iowa State Cyclones jumped the Huskies from the start and never let go of a big lead. This was only an upset because of the names of the program, but with no actual shocking bracket busters on the opening night of the 2012 NCAA tourney, the Cyclones made the biggest splash.

  • Barack Obama Teaching David Cameron About College Basketball

    Barack Obama, the American President, is a huge basketball fan. His annual March Madness brackets are televised on ESPN. He usually goes with Kansas for the win, missing out in the last two years, but did get it right with North Carolina in 2009. He also has time to spread the word of basketball to the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, taking the PM to Dayton, showing him Western Kentucky and Mississippi Valley State in one of the ‘First Four’ games.

  • The Most Valuable College Basketball Teams

    The top 68 basketball programs in the nation (at least for 2012) will begin their journey in the 2012 NCAA tournament, with the Kentucky Wildcats regarded as the big favorites to win it all, ranked #1 in the nation and going undefeated in the SEC this season. Their also one of the most profitable programs in the nation, but they’re not the most valuable or profitable, with another Kentucky team surprising at the top.

  • 2012 College Basketball Rankings – Final Edition

    Kentucky have been the number one team in the nation since January, but lost to Vanderbiltm shockingly, in the SEC finals, which really didn’t change anything regarding their rankings in the poll and the tournament seeding, getting the #1 seed in the South Regional, waiting for the first winner from the first four to join the dance and meet them in the first round.
