2013 NFL Free Agency – Titans & Colts Improve Quarterback Depth
There aren’t a lot of big moves left to make in the NFL free agency after the first week, but both the Tennessee Titans made some additions and changes to their quarterback situations – the Titans released Matt Hasselbeck and signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Indianapolis Colts took advantage of the QB change made by their division rivals and signed the recently released veteran QB.

Not a lot of activity, as teams are kinda hesitant to make moves for the remaining player, but one big piece was taken off the market, as Jake Long decided to leave the Miami Dolphins and become the new left tackle of the St. Louis Rams after finding it hard to choose between the two.

2013 NFL Free Agency – New York Giants Alone in Weekend Signings
After a busy opening few days in the free agency period heading into the 2013 NFL Season, the weekend, as always, was a more quiet, less busy time, with the New York Giants adding Brandon Myers and Dan Connor to their roster, while the New England Patriots were also slightly busy, mostly with releasing (Brandon Lloyd) and re-signing (Aqib Talib).

In another busy day of free agents signings and players being released, the Minnesota Vikings grabbed most of the headlines by signing Greg Jennings of division rivals, the Green Bay Packers, while the Denver Broncos actually releasing Elvis Dumervil (mistake or not) also raised quite a few eyebrows.

NFL Trades – Percy Harvin to Seahawks, Anquan Boldin to 49ers
Just before the beginning of free agency, two pretty big trades were made, both sending wide receivers to NFC West; Percy Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings to the Seattle Seahawks and Super Bowl champion Anquan Boldin from the Baltimore Ravens to the San Francisco 49ers.

2013 NFL Season – 8 Players With the Franchise Tag
Only 8 teams chose to use the Franchise tag heading into the 2013 NFL season, avoiding some key players like Michael Johnson, Anthony Spencer, Jairus Byrd and Ryan Clady from hitting free agency, although it was surprising not to see the New England Patriots make use of that option.

After the “storm” of how wise or wasn’t it to give Tom Brady a contract extension giving him and the New England Patriots a partnership that takes them into his fifth decade blows over, the real question will be if Brady continues to be an elite quarterback, on a top rated offense (mostly thanks to him), in four or five years from now.
