Clutch Home Runs and Pitching Mistakes (Braves vs Dodgers)
The Los Angeles Dodgers found themselves in a jam, but got out of it with some big hitting early on from Carl Crawford and very late from Juan Uribe to give them a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves, clinching the divisional series, while some were left wondering why the best reliever in Baseball, Craig Kimbrel, wasn’t used.

The Beginning of a Comeback (Red Sox vs Rays)
If the Tampa Bay Rays beating the Boston Red Sox 5-4 to get their first win of their ALDS series, staying alive in the playoffs, is about one moment, it has to be Jose Lobaton coming on to hit a walk off home run in the ninth. If it’s about more than that, it was the Rays finally being able to keep the Red Sox bats from getting their usual hot.
-
Perfect Pitching Carries Ugly Hitting (Cardinals vs Pirates)
As both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates combined for only four hits and a batting average of .007 in the game, it was Michael Wacha, striking out nine batters and pitching a strong 7 and bit innings that came out as the hero, giving the Cards the 2-1 win and sending the series back to St. Louis for a deciding fifth.
-
Home Runs From the Unexpected Team (A’s vs Tigers)
Taking a 2-1 lead in their ALDS series, the Oakland A’s find out they can actually hit for power as well, out-slugging the Detroit Tigers who were beaten by a big hitting performance that had Josh Reddick, Brandon Moss and Seth Smith all hit home runs of Anibal Sanchez.
-
Great Hitting Makes Up for Anything (Braves vs Dodgers)
The Los Angeles Dodgers were already using their relief pitcher in the middle of the 4th inning, but with the kind of hitting they produced once again in the NLDS series against the Atlanta Braves, there was nothing stopping them from moving a step closer to finishing off the series.
-
Pinch Running at its Finest (Cardinals vs Pirates)
The Pittsburgh Pirates have already made a few ‘first time since…’ this season, and they’re getting ready for another one, taking a 2-1 lead in the series against the St. Louis Cardinals, with some impressive hitting from Pedro Alvarez, joining forced with Josh Harrison, who made quite a splash with his successful insertion as a pinch runner in the 8th, giving the Pirates the lead for good.
-
Finally a Hit That Means Something (Tigers vs A’s)
There wasn’t much to be proud of for both lineups in game 2 of the ALDS series between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. Beyond the excellent pitching from Justin Verlander and Sonny Gray, there was one moment of clutch and greatness from Stephen Vogt, driving in the only run in the game at the bottom of the ninth, making it a walk off hit to tie up the series at 1-1.
-
An Offense That Doesn’t End (Rays vs Red Sox)
At the end of the day, it simply doesn’t look like the Tampa Bay Rays have quality pitching that’s enough to handle the non-stop offense the Boston Red Sox bring to the table this season and in this series, with game 2 highlighting the home run hitting ability of David Ortiz, helping his team take a 2-0 lead in the series.
-
Barely Holding On (Dodgers vs Braves)
Some quality gaps are too hard to bridge, but the Atlanta Braves somehow managed to even up things with the Los Angeles Dodgers, beating the visitors 4-3 in game 2 of their divisional series, getting just about enough from Mike Minor when there were runners in scoring positions and some solid closing from Craig Kimbrel.
-
Perfect Pitching Going the Other Way Now (Pirates vs Cardinals)
Turning the tables was the main theme in game 2 of the series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, with Gerrit Cole having an absolutely dominant performance on the pitching mound while Pedro Alvarez hit a big 2-run homer in order to reverse the roles and give the Pirates a 7-1 win, tying up the series at 1-1.
