2014 College Football Season – Final Rankings
We don’t need polls anymore to tell us who the national champions are; Ohio State won the College Football Playoff and that’s it. But the top 25 to close the 2014 season does tell us that behind the two finalists (Buckeyes and Oregon), TCU “jumped” the losers of the semifinal (Alabama and Florida State) while Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Georgia and UCLA enjoyed great bowl games, propelling them into the top 10.

College Football Playoff – Final Committee Rankings
The final rankings posted by the College Football Playoff committee put Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State (ranked by that order) in the playoff and a chance to win the national championship, with the Rose Bowl hosting the semifinal between the Ducks and the Seminoles, while the Sugar Bowl will be the venue for the meeting between the Crimson Tide and the Buckeyes.

The results of championship week in the 2014 college football season made it very clear who should be ranked in the top 4 by the committee and be placed in the first ever college football playoff: Alabama, Oregon and Florida State are in without any argument, while Ohio State deserves the final spot for winning the Big Ten championship game, leaving TCU and Baylor out, despite their co-hold on the Big 12 title.

According to the hypothetical BCS rankings following Week 14 in College Football, the playoff will be made up of number one Alabama, followed by Florida State, Oregon and TCU. No two-SEC teams, that’s not going to happen, and maybe even more interesting to see is Ohio State falling behind the top 4. Playing in a championship game and winning the Big Ten might change that.

Alabama overtake Florida State despite the Seminoles remaining undefeated, while TCU take advantage of Mississippi State losing to enter the hypothetical playoff group, earning a number four ranking.

College Football – Rivalries Possibly Decide Final Playoff Rankings
While week 14 of the 2014 College Football season was dubbed rivalry week for the history in most of its encounters, the focus went to the division and conferences titles to be decided, and what the results meant for the next playoff rankings to be released, as the SEC (with Alabama and Missouri) was finally decided, Oregon found it it’ll play Arizona for the Pac-12, Wisconsin are the ones who get to play Ohio State for the Big Ten and Florida State remain the only undefeated team in the nation after Marshall lost in something that looked like a basketball game.

No changes in the elite four of the AP Poll’s top 25, keeping the unimpressive Florida State as the number one team in the nation, followed by Alabama, Oregon and still Mississippi State. Ole Miss fell 10 spots after their loss, which made sure they are just like Auburn now – in a position to spoil it for their big rivals in rivalry week and nothing more.
