2016 College Football Season: Biggest Games of Week 1

The official opening weekend of the 2016 college football season has some massive non-conference games to kick things off right, with Oklahoma playing in Houston against the Cougars, or Ole Miss travelling to Orlando and playing Florida State, who think they have a shot at returning to the playoffs this year. The biggest game in name will be in Dallas, where #20 USC are hoping not to get beat up too badly by defending national champions and number one ranked Alabama.

This gave Dak Prescott a chance to show his stuff, while both Marcus Mariota and Philip Rivers looked good among the other starting QBs.

    NFL: Week 1 Preseason Scores

The second day of NFL preseason action was about most of the away teams winning, including the Miami Dolphins against an Eli Manning-less New York Giants, who like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers chose not to put their starting quarterbacks on the field. Of those who did start, Teddy Bridgewater, in a Minnesota Vikings win, probably looked best among designated starters.

    NFL Preseason: Week 1 Scores

The NFL Preseason is officially open, with a not too impressive performance from Jimmy Garoppolo despite the New England Patriots winning. Cam Newton looked good when he wasn’t getting penalized for celebrating on the field as the Carolina Panthers lost to the Baltimore Ravens, and the post Manning-era began for the Denver Broncos, shutting out the Chicago Bears, and getting a touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez.

2015 NFL Season – Worst Players in Week 1

It’s easy to find the gems and best players of week 1 in the 2015 NFL season. It’s much more difficult and satisfying (we’re awful, we know) to point out the worst performers as the league opens its season, focusing on who disappointed us the most instead of the actual, absolute numbers.

2015 NFL Season – Week 1 Power Rankings

The New England Patriots are clearly the best team in the NFL at the moment after one week of the 2015 NFL season. The worst? It’s hard to choose from such a wide variety of awfulness. The Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars, familiar names in this category, keep on battling for the bottom spot, as if last season is still going on.

The grand opening of the 2015 NFL season was capped off with the Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Giants on the last play, while before that the Green Bay Packers stuck to tradition against the Chicago Bears, Marcus Mariota crushed Jameis Winston in the battle of the rookies as the Tennessee Titans beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the St. Louis Rams left the Seattle Seahawks stunned once again, this time running the ball on fourth & 1 and still failing.
