Although overall records aren’t that meaningful, there’s no doubt it means something to have Kobe Bryant hold the all-time record for missed field goals, which brings us back to older memes celebrating his selfishness and ball-hogging on the court, combined with some more relevant ones.
Bryant seems to be really excited about being healthy, because he’s shooting like there’s no tomorrow and ignoring open teammates like never before.
So far this season he’s averaging more points than anyone in the league, 26.7, but he’s doing it on 24 shots per game. Bryant has averaged more field goal attempts only once in his career, the 2005-2006 season, taking 27.2 shots per game and averaging 35.4 points a night.
He’s hitting 39.3% of his shots so far this season, and it’s not looking like it’s going to change any time soon. Maybe good news for Bryant, who cares only about breaking scoring records, but very bad news for the Lakers, winning only once in seven games.
