Deontay Wilder Takes Down Luis Ortiz by KO

Deontay Wilder retained his WBC belt once again. The Bronze Bomber knocked out Luis Ortiz in their rematch, with his trademark right hand, keeping his record perfect and preserving the heavyweight title.

Wilder’s One Hit Takes Down Ortiz

Ortiz (31-2, 26 KOs) was in control of the fight, and after six rounds, he exposed a little bit more than he should have. It was enough for Wilder (42-0-1, 42 KOs) to send a powerful right hand directly into Cuban’s face, and send him to the ground. Following that, there was no coming back for the challenger, and the judge stopped the fight after counting.

As usual, his punching power saved him from a pretty bad situation. According to all the scorecards, Wilder was behind Ortiz, who had a big lead. And the Cuban totally deserved it, as he won all the rounds, inflicting numerous punches to the champ.

King Kong, as the fans call him, steadily worked his way towards Wilder’s midsection, avoiding his jabs, and occasionally, throwing left hooks to his head. on top of that, the American wasn’t looking very good when it comes to moving around the ring.

However, history repeated itself, and he lost just as in the first bout. The moment when Ortiz decided to be a little bit more offensive, he received severe punishment.

This was Wilder’s 43rd fight, and he recorded 42nd win and the 41st knockout. Meanwhile, Ortiz lost for the second time in his career.

Up Next – Fury

Deontay Wilder stated following the match that he wants Tyson Fury for his next opponent. They already met once before, and that contest ended with a draw, although both fighters had a chance to win. Fury was better throughout the fight and had a huge point advantage. Meanwhile, Wilder sent the Brit on the ground twice, but the Gipsy King miraculously got up.

Both of them wanted a rematch, but Fury decided to have a few more fights before another clash. That forced Wilder to set up a battle with Ortiz.

According to the insiders, it is expected for Wilder vs. Fury II to take place in February 2020. At the moment, the venue of the match is not set, and there were some rumors that it might be in London.
