Swimming World Championships – Day 7 Results, Gold & Medal Table

Day 7 of the world championships in swimming was about known names dominating their events: Katie Ledecky of the United States with her fifth gold, this time in 800 meters freestyle. Florent Manaudou of France in the men’s 50 meters freestyle. Chad le Clos of South Africa in the men’s 100 meters butterfly. Emily Seebohm of Australia in the women’s 200 meters backstroke. Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden in the women’s 50 meters butterfly. The Americans got a second gold medal in the mixed 4×100 meters freestyle relay, setting a new world record with the team of Ryan Lochte, Nathan Adrian, Simone Manuel and Missy Franklin.

Swimming World Championships – Day 6 Results, Gold & Medal Table

Day 6 in the swimming pool was highlighted by two gold medals for Australia – Mitch Larkin in the men’s 200 meters backstroke and Bronte Campbell in the women’s 100 meters freestyle. Great Britain picked up a wonderful gold in the 4×200 men’s freestyle relay thanks to James Guy, Marko Koch of Germany picked up gold in the men’s 200 meters breaststroke and Kanako Watanbe of Japan brought gold in the women’s 200 meters breastroke.

Team USA – Down to 34 Players Competing for a Place on the 2016 Olympic “Dream Team”

There will be 34 players in Team USA’s minicamp in Las Vegas next week, determining eventually who are the 12 that will go to the 2016 Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. The list includes four players (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green) from NBA champions Golden State Warriors and three (LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love) from finalists Cleveland Cavaliers.

The United States finally had someone other than Katie Ledecky pick up a gold medal, as Ryan Lochte won another 200 meter’s individual medley gold medal. Ledecky got her fourth gold of the championship by closing the 4×200 freestyle relay. Ning Zetao of China won the men’s 100 meters freestyle and compatriot Fu Yanhui won the women’s 50 meters backstroke. Natsumi Hoshi of Japan won the gold in the women’s 200 meters butterfly race.
