The big question is this – If the event known as the Munich massacre, which involved the kidnapping and murder of 11 Israeli athletes & coaches, along with a German police officer, would have happened to a different nation, without all the political ramifications regarding the impossible web of Middle Eastern relations, would the IOC mention it in its opening ceremony?

2012 Olympic Games Day 1 – Event Finals Previews & Predictions
After the fantastic opening ceremony and two days of football, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London can officially begin. Saturday gives us the first opportunity to look at gold medal winners in Archery, Cycling, Judo, Weightlifting, Fencing and Shooting, but the big event will be Michael Phelps vs Ryan Lochte in the 400 IM, one of four finals in the pool on the first day.

After 109 years, the United Kingdom finally have a Tour de France champion, as Bradley Wiggins, who won two stages during the 2012 Tour and held on to the yellow jersey since stage 7, won the title leading his Team Sky teammate Chris Froome by 3.21 seconds after three weeks.

2012 NHL Free Agency – Zach Parise & Ryan Suter in Minnesota
There weren’t that many intriguing names this summer among the free agents for NHL teams to choose from, but the Minnesota Wild managed to sign the two names that managed to stand out – Zach Parise, leaving the New Jersey Devils; Ryan Suter, leaving the Nashville Predators.
